Postseason excitement is building at South Arkansas College as multiple athletic programs prepare to compete on big stages, with both the women’s tennis and baseball teams earning opportunities to extend their seasons.

The SouthArk women’s tennis team is headed to Sumter, South Carolina to compete in the NJCAA National Tennis Tournament, marking a significant achievement for the young program. In just its second year of competition, the team is already building strong momentum and establishing itself on the national stage.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for our women’s tennis program,” said SouthArk athletics director, Dr. Jenny Sanders. “To compete in the national tournament in only our second year speaks volumes about the dedication of our student-athletes and coaching staff, and we believe this is just the beginning.”

Meanwhile, the SouthArk baseball team will begin its postseason journey at SAU Magnolia, hosting the opening round of the NJCAA Region 2 Division II Baseball Tournament on April 30-May 1. The Stars enter postseason play as the No. 1 team in the NJCAA Region 2 East and carry a national ranking of No. 20, underscoring the strength of the program this season.

With home-field advantage, SouthArk will look to build momentum as it pursues a berth in the regional championship tournament. The ultimate goal for the baseball program is a trip to Enid, where the remainder of the regional tournament will be held. Advancing would place SouthArk among the top teams in the region and within reach of further postseason opportunities.

“Hosting the first round is a testament to the strength of our program and the support of our community,” Dr. Sanders added. “We’re excited to compete in front of our home crowd and continue pushing toward our goals.”

With both teams entering postseason play and building momentum in their respective programs, SouthArk Athletics continues to demonstrate growth and competitive excellence. Fans and supporters are encouraged to follow the Stars as they compete for championships on both the national and regional stages.
